We are a non-profit based in Oregon.
We support youth in our community facing mental health struggles, addiction, identity challenges, and the weight of the world.
about mttm
We are NOT counselors, therapists, case workers, or a resource organization. We are the ones to make sure youth know about these amazing organizations in our community.
Mosh Through The Misery started in Salem in 2025. Founded in the morals and spirit of punk community, we believe in equipping youth ages 11-21 with mental health resources and information - like how to get help and where, if needed. We do this by bringing the info and supplies to punk and metal shows and giving it out - no questions asked.
We act as free brokers for the real heroes of mental health.
WHat does mttm do?
1. OUTREACH AT PUNK AND METAL SHOWS.
As punks ourselves, we have always gone to the shows. Now we can go to shows and help our youth. MTTM sets up at all-ages shows and festivals where youth gather to have fun and find a sense of belonging in an inclusive environment.
2. OUR ZINE. Members of our community contribute to making our independent zine which we give out for free to youth at shows. It features art/prose from youth. It contains interviews with with mental health organizations in our community. It has interviews with local bands in our scene touching on mental health, addiction, and trauma in music. A complete list of hotlines, organizations, and resources are printed inside each one.
3. SUPPLIES. At each table we have harm reduction supplies, drink test strips, fentanyl test strips, condoms, pregnancy tests, ear plugs, journals to write in, and more!
4. WE BRING THE FUN. We bring a prize wheel to every show where youth can spin for free prizes like posters, stickers, buttons, and more. The prizes are for ages 11-21. We also do free temporary tattoos for anyone who comes to our table.
